Eco-warrior who's giving it away
Robert Pennicott is neither Warren Buffet nor Bill Gates but his philanthropic dreams are similar.
The one-time Tasmanian professional fisherman turned tourism eco-warrior hopes in 10 years time he will be giving away 25 per cent of his company's net profits to environmental and other worthy causes related to the beautiful coastland and islands off Tasmania where he plies his cruise trade. What's more he hopes the money will be in the millions, not the tens of thousands of dollars he gives now to these causes.
Pennicott already ploughs more than 13 per cent of net earnings into his Tasmanian Coast Conversation Fund to ensure the island state's rugged marine environment is preserved for future generations as well as other worthy causes in the region.
